This product seems to have improved since the last time I used it a few years ago. I'm using it on 200 year old walls which display a mixture of old and very old patching along with various forms of paint. Not sure what plaster was made of that long ago but some of it has ended up very crumbly. After removing the worst of the crumble one coat of this stabilizer has proved effective. I'm also using a PVA coating where new plaster needs to be applied. The two combined has worked very well

The Sandtex stabilizing solution, was applied successfully. However, it has only been on for two weeks and perhaps a little early to evaluate. Early indications, though, are good.

The product is now water based, whereas the original Sandtex stabilzing solution was spirit based. I am therefore concerned it will not perform as well as the original product, long term.
