Fortunately for me the packs in my nearest store (costing £2.98) are 8x75mm and have a different barcode.
Haven't yet done battle with installing them.

I used one of these dowel screws to repair a broken wooden salad fork (don't ask). It did the job admirably. I would have preferred a thinner bore screw, but this is the smallest B&Q seemed to have. The packaging could also be improved by including what is the correct drillbit to use with this 5mm screw. I found after a bit of trial and error that 4.5mm drillbit was about right.
