Rusts quickly by the sea

Seaglass - 5 days ago

I was really happy with this while it lasted. Unfortunately it took les than two years for one of the arms to completely rust through and snap off. Perhaps there was a manufacturing fault and a week spot? Either way, annoying to have to send it to landfill and I’ll be buying a different brand as a replacement (none of our neighbours lines have broken like this so I won’t blame the seaside location alone).

Happy so far

Bought this product 18 weeks ago & all seems fine. My only negative is the central pole could do with being longer by at least 6 inches, as the lower part of the line is a bit to low for me.

Didn't want to pay too much, so when I came across this rotary line, it looked ok for the price. I can honestly say it's been great! Glad I didn't pay alot of money for one. It's easy to slide up & down & clicks into place easily enough. I would definitely recommend.

Wishy Washy - 5 months ago

As a basic rotary airer this is fine for the money. I’m not sure why so many reviews praised its quality. the sliding mechanism is very plasticky, quite awkward to slide up to lock in place not ideal if you want to open and close it often). Probably the most annoying thing is that it doesn’t spin round easily and when it does it makes a noise like a castle door creaking (plastic rubbing on plastic) probably fine if at the end of the garden but ours is on the patio and easily heard if sat out.
We’ve only had it a month but I get the distinct impression that it won’t last that long because of the plastic sliding mechanism - but I could be wrong.
Overall the metal frame seems good strong quality and this is the bit that has usually gone first on other cheap Lines we’ve bought. So at its price point it’s fine but don’t expect it to last too long.
In hindsight I wish I’d paid more for a brabantia one, which admittedly start at twice the cost but having compared this to a neighbours brabantia line, you can see the difference. It spins much easier allowing for even drying, whereas we have to remember to manually turn our line (whether it’s windy or not).
I note that some people mentioned it being to low, I can’t say that is a problem I’ve noticed.

I bought this line 6 weeks ago. I was dubious about the price, but after reading the reviews I took a gamble. Waste of time, it’s really difficult to get good tension so it’s pretty slack, and to top it all, it’s now just broken on me. The only positive I can offer is it’s easy to slide up & down. I will be returning this and sticking to to original plan & buying a sturdier and no doubt more expensive rotary line. I may have just been unlucky a received a ‘dud’ but I won’t be chancing it again... Shame really
