After seeing and considering the reviews I thought I’d give one a go, free power and all that, to position the solar panel on the north(not in direct sunlight) end of my garage to light up the garden behind the house. Given that the initial installation took 5 minutes to do, fix solar panel, unscrew light from bracket, fix bracket, screw light into bracket and switch on, turn to 3/4 sensitivity and away you go all worked well for 6 months or at least the summer light time. Autumn came and went, still working fine until the clocks went back, then nothing, thought it was the off/auto switch as it felt really loose in its rubber housing underneath the unit so took it down and bypassed it, which then made it work, for about 2 nights. Then decided it was actually time to order another. That came and was installed, worked fine for 2 or 3 days then dark as a winters night in Yorkshire, how do I know that? I live in rural Yorkshire and it is dark! To be fair, the sunlight has been pretty poor just lately and it probably just needs a good charge up or a better/ bigger solar panel but at 23 quid and in direct sunlight this is probably a fantastic unit but unless you really can’t get electric up to the place where you need it, you’d probably be better getting a mains powered version.

I’ve bought 3 of these now across the last year. All seem to be working perfect and brightest I could find at 500 lumens. I bought 2 for inside the car garage and the cord to the solar panel was just long enough to place the recharge panel on the garage roof on a small wooden plate/sledge I made, with the lights inside, that auto on when I open garage door and stay on if you keep moving. Perfect
Amazing free power

So I've read previous reviews and thought I'd go get one anyway.... secured the light in a place that was dark at the side of house positioned solar panel and the side that always has light. And it didn't work.... then realised you have to initially charge it for 3 days using the solar panel. And low and behold it works... perfect. And I've had it for 6 months now. My only advice for people is don't position the sensor near the boiler exhaust. Otherwise the steam sets it off.
I'm actually thinking of getting another one to replace my mains security light at the back.
