Bricks and Mortar - 1 year ago

I bought this pole in preference to the cheaper ones which I have used previously: the wood effect on these looks better. The screws supplied for mounting are, however, of appallingly poor quality. Two of the long screws used to attach the bracket to the wall sheared, and all 4 short screws supplied to attach the wooden hanging brackets to the pole and to the metal wall brackets either sheared or rounded. The 'oak-effect' wood appears to be extremely hard and the screws are simply not up to the job. I now have an unusable pole in as far as, having either sheared or rounded, the screws cannot be removed from the wooden hanging brackets and they, along with the metal brackets to which they are still attached, are now unusable. As far as I can see, the only method by which the metal brackets can be removed is to cut (and therefore destroy) the wooden hanging brackets. To add insult to injury, it appears that replacement 'oak-effect' brackets are not available to purchase meaning that, to replace then, I would need to purchase a complete new pole at nearly £50. Very unimpressed!

Aesthetically pleasing. Poor quality fixings.

Very nice looking curtain pole and good value for money - All other curtain poles under the £50 mark were ugly wood-look so I was pleased to find this one. However as usual with B&Q products the deal is never quite as good as it appears. Pre-drilled holes in curtain pole supports had to be re-drilled as not wide enough to accommodate the size of the head of the screws for locking them into place. Also one screw provided for gripping the pole in the supports was duff - screwdriver couldn't grip the ill formed head. Small inadequacies that can be easily resolved if you have tools to hand but if like me you do not have an extensive store of drill pieces and screws it makes a 15 minute job last a week and the cost of buying additional pieces makes the original price less of a bargain.

Rubbish look ! spliced two distinct colours

Purchased a month ago after decorating fitted pole then having cut size in a dark garage realized pole is splice two completely different wood colours what a waste of time and money! purchasing same in white to save more holes. Ouch!

All good apart from the 4 small screws that aren't up to the job. Make sure you enlarge the pilot holes before assembly and drill pilot holes in the pole before final assembly.
