Didn't work on our shed.

We bought 2 x 5L tubs of Cuprinol Ducksback shed and fence treatment but it would not treat our previously treated shed and B&Q wouldn’t refund us as we had used some of it. (The only way we would know that it would not treat our shed was to try it).
As per other reviews is was pale orange/yellow in colour and it was nothing like the colour (Autumn Gold) shown in store or on the tin – but that was not our main issue.
I was treating a large workshop shed and used Ducksback on the bottom few planks but soon stopped when I saw it did not penetrate the wood. It sat on top of the wood and stayed there.
I returned the slightly used tub and a 2nd unopened 5ltr tub to B&Q and spoke with Jon a manager (I think) on the paint section at Beeston, Leeds. He said he would refund the money on the unopened container and despite the B&Q customer satisfaction policy, that they want you to be delighted with a product, he would not refund the opened contained that had a tiny amount used that was not fit for our purpose. (Treating our shed) He said perhaps if the shed had been treated previously then as this was a wax-based product it might not work as intended. We did not see any caveats on the tin warning that it might not work on previously treated wood so we tried it. Sadly it was unfit for our purpose but he would not refund the £9.00 we paid for it and advised me to telephone Dulux using the number on the tin. So it turns out this product is not good on some previously treated wood and the B&Q customer satisfaction guarantee didn’t do what it claimed either!
I did contact Dulux using the telephone number on the tin and explained the above facts. They agreed to refund the money on receipt of a copy of our till receipt.
Cuprinol Ducksback rating - 1 out of 5.
Customer service at B&Q Beeston (Jon) - 1 out of 5.
Customer service at Dulux – 5 out 5.

I purchased this to paint my old shed and fencing before I lay my decking next week. The before and after is incredible! Very pleased with the colour, application and the paint goes a long way! I still have enough paint to finish the other fence panels.
A quality product from a respected manufacturer.

This product needs to be stirred well before use, and is easy to apply with good coverage on timber sheds and fencing. Being water repellent it encourages rain water to run off the timber. Brushes can be cleaned in water. Autumn gold is a pleasant colour and works well in gardens.
Painting three recently erected fence panels.

Very easily applied and gave a very pleasing finish.

I am disappointed in the colour. When I opened the tin the colour was much lighter than I thought from the picture - very orange. I applied it and thought it might darken on application but it didn’t so will have to buy another tin on a darker shade.
