Briliant

Rustic look on the wall lovely for the value Do not use for previus paint otherwise is hard job. Remove the old paint use on raw wall. If you want the rustic look.

Don’t bother

Horrible paint like water being polite here !! Colour was nothing like the tin vile luckily I had done a patch test on the wall I wanted to paint needs removing from the shelves total waist of money 💰

Awful

Awful to paint with as it comes off the wall if you go over it . Blotchy, thin, cheap looking rubbish . You will need at least 3 coats and at the minute mine is just an awful dark brown colour despite repeatedly mixing it . I was surprised it had 2 and a half stars ! Sort it out B&Q

Lovely colour BUT…

I’ve used metallic colours before and they are always tricky to get even coverage. Just as you think it’s perfect it dries and you see it’s patchy. It takes several coats but the effect is very good. Despite being a dark shade it bounces light back in the room because of the metallic sheen! I knew what to expect but others might not realise that two coats isn’t really enough. You might not need to go over the whole wall for the 3rd coat but make sure you have enough paint. One average feature wall in my grandson’s bedroom took nearly 2 cans! But like I said… these are great special effects when finished… I’ve used a pewter shade in the past… same difficulty… so I guess it’s the same for all these metallics!

Disappointing

idea was good but result was patchy and resulted in buying normal paint sanding over and painting over. Perhaps you need to be an expert.

Kitchen make over

I never got around to tiling my new kitchen and wondered if there was a cheaper solution to make it look ‘Wow’. I saw this paint actually on a show kitchen wall in B&Q and decided to give it a try. After reading reviews I did wonder what I’d let myself in for and after opening the tub to see a dark brown paint worried a little. On trying to stir I could feel a layer at the bottom that took a lot of shifting, I even put my hand in to try and break up the inch thick sludgy gold metallic part of the paint and then got my kitchen whisk out as previously posted. It did take at least 20 minutes to blend (so I guess the streaky posts and it wasn’t the right colour posts didn’t persevere with mixing it, or discovered the bit at the bottom ). Taped off areas and cut in with a small brush and could see you don’t need much to get coverage, used a small roller handle due to space under cupboards and a short ragged roller head. First coat on quickly but cold see colour change in tub as the sheen sinks so will make sure I whisk regularly on the second coat. Apart from the faff of mixing which should be clear on the tub I’m really happy with the results so far. Mix, mix, mix, mix and mix some more.

Love This Paint But There Are Tricks To It

(1) This is not normal paint. The concept of buying the paint in the morning, painting in the afternoon, and decorating that night doesn't work with this paint. (2) It requires a lot of stirring. Initially, it may seem like it will never blend with the metallic tones at the bottom of the tin to bring them up so it's a smooth, evenly-coloured paint but it eventually does blend beautifully. (3) I used a wooden spoon I purchased for sauces from the kitchen shop because it has a large hole in it (intentional). Was perfect for this job. (4) It will take at least 3 coats to achieve a nice finish. (5) Do the first coat in criss-cross patterns. (6) Load the brush with less than you think you'll need. Load little & often. (7) I used a 3" trim brush until the top coat and then I switched to a roller. (8) I didn't put the roller onto a holder. I let it gently roll off my hands as I very carefully glided over the wall. The effect was exactly what I wanted. (9) I strongly suggest taping off with this paint! It's extremely thick and transition lines are not easy to maintain in a clean, neat manner. Taping will greatly help. (10)This paint does not like second coats unless the one beneath is completely dry. Do not go back over the coat already on the wall before it's dry. My second coat was after 3 hours of drying time and the third coat was the next morning. (11) I painted the adjacent woodwork before applying this paint to the walls. After the metallic paint dried, I still had to re-paint the woodwork to get rid of all the small smears that occurred during application. If I use this again, I will wait to do the woodwork until after the walls are finished. (12) The resulting colour is quite close to the tin photo but it is, in my opinion, a shade or two darker. The room I painted is very small and it is almost too dark for the room but I like it all the same. It reflects the light beautifully. I'm sorry that I can't add a photo but it just isn't coming out to show the effects as well as they are in reality. Bottom line: It's a dramatic & gorgeous paint when all the tricks are used. As another poster said, patience is the key. Good luck, everyone.

Gorgeous effect

Bought this product, a little apprehensive with regard to reviews, but I’m so happy with it. Yes a lil trickier than regular emulsion But the finished effect is just gorgeous!! My tips would be stir well, very well, and then some more. When using a brush only go one direction once only, gentle pressure, when rollering do smaller sections and then cross cross. Two coats on my focal walls worked well.

Very warm and nice colour

I bought this paint yesterday for my bedroom, paint was very difficult to work with, I let the first coat dry overnight and done a second coat the following day. Smashing.
