Bought these for my son who was so pleased that I bought a set too. My drill packed up under load using a wood bit causing the battery to go dead. Initial response from B&Q was that the battery is only warranted 45 days although the box shows 3yr warranty. Looking online the Makita site says batteries warranted 12 months. Fortunately I was able to show the drill to be faulty and after a bit of argie bargie they replaced the lot for me. New one seems fine. Impact driver is a brilliant bit of kit.
Very Cost Effective for a Very Limited Budget

I spent a while over 2 weeks testing the drill. At first, it appeared there was little drilling power in C24 wood and I was needing to use the hammer and masonry bits. I was going to return it. Then, it appeared OK. I suppose/hope the battery required a little usage to deliver full power. The capability will always be wood/grain dependent.
The drill is low to medium power which saves possible wrist damage if used one-handed, but it is still advisable to use one's free hand on the battery to avoid torque reaction impact, especially when screwing/unscrewing. The screwing/unscrewing capability is dependent upon screw size and thread/length, wood grade and whether a pilot hole has/was drilled, and appears OK for up to M5 in C24 wood. Using for long M5 and M6+ just overloads the motor and is unnecessary.
The impact driver is the best part of the package and is applicable for long M5 and M6+. It is important for safety to use two hands as above and to use impact/torsion bits. Its' use for fixing plastic fittings is unadvisable unless it is done slowly due to the high speed and power.
Both parts have a whine when run slowly and free on a fully charged battery. Lithium-Ion battery tools use a PWM controlled motor and the whine occurs when there is no load - it is not a problem (apparently).
The Cube Bag is re-enforced canvas. If B&Q sold the plastic case X1 variant I would have bought that.
The G series batteries are the DIY level and at a lower cost than the LXT versions which are for a higher usage rate. It appears that spare G series batteries are becoming available.
The parts have good controls and low noise and vibration figures.
As to reliability of these DIY level products - I cannot state - yet.
(C24 wood is structural grade, and is a bit like me - dense)

I bought this item and am very pleased with it. The big pitty of the item is that you get a carry bag with the items in it with hooks on the bag ready for a strap. But DOES NOT COME WITH THE BAG that needs the strap as it's meant to be a carry bag. There is no other handle so I think they over thought on this item as the carry bag only becomes a storage bag as it's a hassle to carry round with NO STRAP OR HANDLE TO CARRY
Just what I needed

Had to decide between these and the US equivalent but non US reviews say Makita just nudges it. Nice upgrade on my B&D plastic set.
