We were so looking forward to finally buying a petrol mower after out flymo blew up. After spending sometime reading reviews we opted for this one. It lasted 3 weeks and was used only 3 times before the clutch detached itself from the housing at the rear wheels, this meant it was no longer self propelling. we spent about 2 hours trying to reattach the clutch and spring to no avail. Gave up, phone b&q and they said they didn’t have any more in stock and couldn’t reorder, so we drained it, packed it all up and took it back to the store for a refund. Refund received no problem as it was within 45 days or purchase. Don’t know if we will try another petrol mower or just get another electric one, was hoping with mountfield pairing up with Honda it would have lasted us years, it’s not filled us with much confidence of cheaper petrol mowers on the market.
Poor quality

Had the mower 3 weeks, used twice.
The firstime the plastic hub cap fell off. Quickly replaced by serviceline.
Today the blade kept coming loose. I was advised to take it to a service centre in another town but they may charge as bladpe related problems are not covered by the warranty ...WHAT ...
So back to B and Q for a refund
Nb they have just changed the bolt /washer assembly design.
The upside... It starts well
Terrible aftercare service

I bought this lawnmower from B&Q on 5 th May, on the 9th May used i for 20 minutes then the clutch stopped working. Phoned Mountfield helpline and they told me that this was NOT covered under warranty but they would send be an e ail with instructions on how to fix it my self!!!!!
I can take back to B & Q but I would have to drain it of oil and fuel. I have no idea how to do this.
I paid £338 for this machine - I would not buy anything from this manufacturer again - be warned!
Not brilliant mower

Unfortunately I found this mower un comparable with any others I've used with very similar Honda engines i.e. Husqvarna or even much cheaper Briggs and Stratton I had previously owned .main faults - grass box too small .crudely made handle ,not that easy to start.used the mower for less than a few hours now getting rid of it as it's rubbish
