I knew that I needed to have a new light in the kitchen when the transformer popped on the previous 3 spot product.

I didn't know what I was going to get when I came to the B&Q store, just that my defunct light just was never bright enough. I took a chance on this, worried that it might look too utilitarian.

While it's not going to win prizes for looks, it sure does deliver on capability. I had worked out that (at best) I would probably get 1200-1500 lumens from a traditional spotlight product which is OK, but would definitely require auxiliary lighting.

Now it's installed, it is like being able to turn on the daylight in the kitchen and I and the family love it.

My only reservation is that the fitting instructions are not brilliant. I'm fairly handy, but securing screws in a 640x283mm perfect rectangle on the ceiling was pretty difficult - this could easily have been fixed with a paper template in the box and that would've helped hugely. (I live in an older house and the ceilings are 10ft high).

Just on that last point, the light's weight is relatively negligible for lath-and-plaster ceilings, so it worked really well without having to find joists.

Summarising - brilliant functionally, but could use just a wee bit extra help on the mounting guidance.

Bought this a month ago to go above our dining table. Only discovered today (by reading an earlier review) that you could change the brightness by flicking the light switch. I loved the light before, I love it even more now!

We are planning to buy a few more to go in our garage as we are so pleased with it. Looks modern, doesnt cast much of a shadow and kicks out a good light - even better now!

Think about how to fix it though, on ours you can see the bracket (when the light is off due to no glare), you could mount it recessed but that is quite a bit of effort. It still looks good as it is.

    Great value too.

    Brilliant!

Used these to replace two 4ft fluorescent lamps in our kitchen and I am very pleased with them. There are three different levels of light, selected by flicking the light switch. Full power is very bright, suitable for doing intricate work. The picture shows them on the middle setting, suitable for normal use.

Bought one to install in kitchen. Will get another as I’m happy with this first one. Will replace the normal on/off switch for a dimmer as they are bright, probably too much so by the time the second is fitted, but these are dimmable, usually you have to replace the driver for a dimmable one but these are to start with, good to know as have seem similar units that are cheaper but you need to spend £20+ extra for the dimmable driver
