Works, but for how long?

A year ago the light switch in my bathroom failed. It was 28 years old, not a bad innings. I went to B&Q, bought a new branded one, and this one failed recently, only about a year old (ratchet broken inside). Read online these sorts of switch all now have a short life expectancy nowadays, so when I bought the second replacement bought this el cheap-o one. Still working at the moment.
