- Suitable for Wood
- Surface Preparation - How to prepare bare wood for painting: Use 120 grit sandpaper to lightly sand your wood for an even finish. Sand in the direction of the grain. Once the dust has settled, wipe the area with white spirit. Any holes or cracks can be filled in with wood filler. You should also stop knots showing through your new paint job with knot blocker. How to prepare previously painted wood: The type of sandpaper you need to use depends on the quality of your paint. If your old paint isn’t flaking and is still in a good condition, use 240 grit sandpaper and just lightly sand the surface. If the paint is cracked or flaking, use 120 grit sandpaper. Sand flaking paint back to the bare wood. This is easiest to do with an electric sander. Once the dust has settled, wipe it away with white spirit and a damp cloth. Fill any holes or cracks with wood filler and prevent knots from darkening with knot blocker.
- Instructions for Use - Give your paint a thorough stir to mix the colour pigments. Make sure you get rid of any lumps and bumps. Apply the paint in the direction of the woodgrain with a synthetic brush. Leave your first coat to dry for four hours. Apply the second coat. If you’re painting bare wood, you might still be able to see the grain after two coats. If that’s the case, wait four hours before applying a third coat. Your last coat will be weatherproof in one hour. And that’s it, job done!

Terrible paint to use
Paint was very hard to apply evenly and get a even covering. I ended up using it on the door surround only, 3 to 4 coats. I have a red of this paint that I previously used and was ok. Now I have a red door instead of a blue door!!! Previously reading the reviews of this ronseal paint, that go back years. The manufacturer should review it's manufacturing and quality control processes.

To seal wood paint
Just what was needed. Excellent coverage and weatherproof.

Dreadful stuff
Doesn’t do exactly what it says on the tin. Even with a grey undercoat the colour and coverage is so poor I’m not going to bother with a second coat. Total waste of money. Not midnight blue, maybe teal at a push.

Can I give this “paint” zero stars ?!!!
Awful is just too small a word to describe this “paint”. Just finished second coat of front door and we reckon it is going to need at least two more coats, which would necessitate buying another tin - which we are not going to do, given some of the pictures showing what it looks like after four coats.

Terrible paint
Bought this in store but wish I had read reviews online prior. Thought this would be a nice navy blue but it went on bright blue and really streaky

Horrible coverage
Absolute waste of money. After 4 coats on top of the grey base coat I gave up. Horrible coverage, horrible paint. Avoid

Awful awful awful
Terrible coverage. Goes on streaky with a brush and a roller. It’s going to need at least four coats.

The worst paint I’ve ever used
This paint is so horrible that I want to cry. 750ml tin is not enough to paint a standard size door. After 3 coats it looks horribly patchy. It will take at least 5 coats to look decent, even if it’s just a side door for a garage. I’m just kicking myself for not buying the paint I normally use. Very costly and time consuming mistake!
