  • Guarantee - 10 years
  • Suitable for Wood
  • Surface Preparation - How to prepare bare wood for painting: Use 120 grit sandpaper to lightly sand your wood for an even finish. Sand in the direction of the grain. Once the dust has settled, wipe the area with white spirit. Any holes or cracks can be filled in with wood filler. You should also stop knots showing through your new paint job with knot blocker. How to prepare previously painted wood: The type of sandpaper you need to use depends on the quality of your paint. If your old paint isn’t flaking and is still in a good condition, use 240 grit sandpaper and just lightly sand the surface. If the paint is cracked or flaking, use 120 grit sandpaper. Sand flaking paint back to the bare wood. This is easiest to do with an electric sander. Once the dust has settled, wipe it away with white spirit and a damp cloth. Fill any holes or cracks with wood filler and prevent knots from darkening with knot blocker.
  • Instructions for Use - Paint on with a synthetic brush in the direction of the wood grain.

Utter rubbish!

Read the other reviews and take note...this paint needs so many coats to get rid of all the patches. Ronseal should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. I will never buy Ronseal paint again.

Worst paint ever

We painted our front door and this paint is the worst paint we've ever used. It is so watery and doesn't cover. Normally paint glides on, not this paint. As you're painting it on, it's brushing off. Doesn't do what it says on tin!!!

Terrible watery paint ruined my door

I bought this paint a few days ago to paint my front door. The worst paint I've ever used. It's watery, drips everywhere, doesn't cover well, leaves patches. Won't work with the correct primers, brushes nor rollers. Does not do what it says on the tin, avoid at all costs.

This is the worst paint ever made !

Utter rubbish. This paint sets far too quickly when brushed on. It does not 'flow' at all, so any and all brush marks stay visible. The only way to avoid this is to literally ladle the stuff on. Coverage is very poor, at least two coats are needed. Avoid !

Mix mix mix!!

I painted my door and couldn’t quite believe how many coats I had to use. Then, when I thought I’d finished, the last paint I poured into the tray had a load of white in it! You have to mix for AGES! I hadn’t realised. It’s taken about 5 coats on my door! It’s lovely now it’s done, buts it’s a real slog to paint and decorate with

Great finish

Hello Not normally a fan of water based but on rental properties which need to be able to close the door when I leave , this dries quick and gives a good finish Dries fast so don’t work slow and make sure dry before adding a second

Avoid

Bought this in September for a front door that I had stripped and applied primer and undercoat to. I have never used a water based gloss before. I also thought that it would be a perfect substitute for oil based gloss as the image on the can has a front door. This was also the only blue gloss that B&Q had. The positives: goes on very easily and dries very quickly. The negatives: I had given the door a primer and undercoat but this was so thin that I needed 4 coats and, looking very hard at the decorative trim of the door, can still see traces of the undercoat. I have never had to use more than 2 coats of oil based gloss on a prepped door before. In summary, buy it if you love painting and have a lot of time on your hands because you will be applying far more coats than it states on the tin. Don't buy it if you are used to getting the result that you want from an oil based gloss paint.

Disappointing

I've been a painter and decorator 37 yrs, I undercoated in dark grey prepared the surface making sure prior to this, usual rule of thumb is generally one coatb undercoat and one coat of gloss in most cases. This product stated no need for primer, are you sure,? I have had to apply 2 good coats and and face up (touch up), let's see how this fairs over the next few yrs, it says 10yr....... Doubtfull, I wouldnt recommend this product and at 22 quid a 750ml I find very over priced, next time it's dulux weather shield

Very poor

Poor finish after 2 coats . Dries too quick and no depth to gloss finish , very disappointing.
