Ronseal Diamond Hard Floor Varnish Light oak Satin Wood Floor Varnish, 2.5L
Product details
Product information
This light oak floor varnish from the Ronseal Diamond range can be applied to interior using a brush. The varnish dries in just 30 minutes and will cover up to 18 m² per litre on average.
- Gives floors Diamond Hard protection from shoes, scratches and spills, while highlighting the natural beauty of the wood.
- Surface Preparation - Make sure the room is warmer than 10 degrees, remove your furniture and open the doors and windows. Wear a mask when sanding the floors to avoid inhaling dust. How to prepare unvarnished floors: Prepping before varnishing will help the varnish stick evenly and give you better results. Sand along the length of your floorboards with 120 grit sandpaper. (Helpful hint: It’s quicker and easier to use a floor sander). Let the dust settle and run the vacuum around before wiping the floor down with white spirit. If you spot any holes or imperfections, use our Multi-purpose Wood Filler to fill them in. How to prepare varnished floors: Lightly sand your floor with 120 grit sandpaper. If your old varnish is flaking off, use a floor sander to sand back to the bare wood. Let the dust settle, vacuum it up and then wipe down your floor with white spirit.
- Instructions for Use - Give the varnish a really good stir and test the colour on a small patch to make sure you’re happy with it. Use a 4” brush and start in the corner furthest from the door. Work along the length of two floorboards at a time, just make sure you don’t get trapped in the corner! Wait two hours for the first coat to dry before applying another. For the best protection, you’ll need three coats. Before you start the third coat, very lightly sand along the length of your floorboards with 240 grit sandpaper. You won’t need a floor sander for this bit. Wipe the floor down with a damp cloth and then apply the third coat. Your floor will be ready to walk on in only two hours. Wait 24 hours before bringing your furniture back in. After 72 hours your floor will be diamond hard.

wish I've read the reviews
I've put a lot of effort in sanding the floor 3 times and putting 3 coats with this varnish only to get this weird colour. it says light oak, but it is a horrible tone of yellow. After each coat I thought it might get better after the final coat. However, after 3 coats and waiting a day for settling in, it didn't get better. I'd advice to stay away from this colour at all costs.

Excellent Product
Re-varnished my parquet flooring which was in poor condition 2 years ago with this product and it still looks wonderful. As mentioned in many comments, it does look green on opening the tin by this is not visible on my very dark flooring (used the light oak colour on the dark flooring to prevent it getting any darker).

Not green?
Everyone seems to be saying it’s green but it wasn’t for me! Looks green when wet but once dried I think it’s a nice colour

The Incredible Hulk vomit
If you want your floor to look like green as if the Incredible Hulk has vomitted on it, please buy this. If you want your floor to look good, don't buy this product.

Ronseal light oak, really you mean light green...
Why oh why did I not listen to all the other reviews, so after sanding back to bare wood on floorboards and been advised to go clear varnish I never listened my biggest mistake. Like others have mentioned on opening the tin it was grey varnish after giving it a good stir the varnish turned green, alarm bells should have stopped me there. So I decided to give it a go anyhow on two boards and though ok not to bad so cracked on with the whole room. Well 3hrs later I returned I thought nope this doesn't look right it must just need a second coat why oh why did I bother. A second coat and it's even worse the floors are now a nice shade of green and yellow completely ruined. This tin will be going back for a refund without question and the floors will either have to be sanded down again which will cost. Please please avoid this varnish at all costs......

AVOID AT ALL COSTS
I recently sanded my floor and thought light oak would look nice but it looks horrible. It's literally bright yellow!! It looks like I've painted my floor with yellow paint. I'm not having to hire the equipment to resand my floor.

Diamond hard light oak
What can I say, I’ve spend days hiring a sander, preparing the wood, cleaning down with white spirit and now it’s ruined. Wanted light oak as wanted a subtle colour, looked yellow but thought I’d let it dry to see how it looked, tried a second coat to see if this helped. The answer is no, I opted to pay £50 for Ronseal instead of cheaper home brands, devastated. What a waste of money and time. Why can’t there be sample pieces in store so you can see what it will look like. Now my floor looks like cheap yellow pine, not the look I was going for. Last time I buy Ronseal. Read what it says on the tin and expect the complete opposite, do yourself a favour and don’t buy, waste of money!

Varnish turns out green
Tried this product on three different types of wood. On stairs that had previously been rubbed down but varnished, product was fine and happy with effect. Had new floor boards and strips of wood on stairs which had never been varnished etc and the colour comes out green. Tried several coats of varnish but does not change the colour from green.
