This thermal switch is an essential safety feature that switches off power to the elements to prevent the temperature getting too high and causing possible scalding or injury. When the temperature drops, it then resets and allows power back through the elements. Once the temperature exceeds 75°C the power will then be cut off and the unit needs to be replaced.
