I bought this yesterday to charge up a battery that wasn't getting charged by Ring charger (which was more expensive!!) - the auto-mode was worked perfectly - it's started off will little current and kicked into over 8 amps after 2 hours or so - then ramped it down as the battery became fully charged. - Maybe my old battery was just needing a proper charger!

    Not happy with charger.

I decided to spend a little more on a smart car charger but have only found out it wont charge a completely dead battery - what is the point?! this only charges batteries that have charge in them - AVOID!

Quality Charger and very easy to use.

The best fully-automatic 12 volt lead-acid charger I have used, with only one weak point, when charging a small-capacity sealed AGM battery that is damaged, it failed to switch off. Passed every other test, accurate charge control, checks battery state every few seconds, the automatic mode is outstanding, usually there is no need to make any manual setting, just clip on and power up the mains and clip on. If you prefer, you can manually choose a charge rate, the slower, the better it is for the battery, and the rates include a 2 amp rate that automatically switches into maintenance mode. Even has a desulphating routine, easily copes with a 12 amp charge without overheating, minor niggle fan a little noisy and often runs except at 2 amp, excellent LED display switchable to show charge current, battery voltage, or a rough estimate of how nearly full the battery is. Fantastic value at £41, and good reports of long-term reliability. Recently had two other chargers in succession fail within six weeks of trickle charging, nice to find a decent charger at last. Sturdy clips. Can scarcely fault this charger, although some are physically smaller. Slow trickle charging can extend battery life, and this is an essential for any 12 volt vehicle that is not used at least once a week - can save money on a replacement battery, eases the strain on the alternator - great value and very useful.

    ** One possible snag **
I have seen reports this charger might not start if a battery is massively discharged. I have not experienced this, and do not know if it applies to current production. If it will not start charging, you will need to partially charge the battery by some other means such as a non-automatic charger. Note that massively discharging a 12 battery to below 6 volts will cause some damage.
