- Surface Preparation - For indoor use only. Do not apply in damp or humid conditions. Apply when the temperature of the surface being painted is above 10°C. Glossy surfaces should be deglossed before painting. Repair all damaged areas before painting. Remove old, loose or flaky paint. New, fresh plaster must be sealed with Valspar® Interior Primer & Undercoat prior to painting. Other bare, absorbent surfaces must be sealed with primer or a first coat of this product prior to applying the finishing coat.

Valspar premium wall emulsion
This paint is awful very patchy and not one coat at all. I’ve already and applied 2 coats and will definitely need a 3rd don’t waste your money! Very disappointing.

Gorgeous colour, love the matt.
Gorgeous colour, I was looking for a light pink with a warm undertone and this was perfect. Not too pink so it is overwhelming, it’s just right for a feminine bedroom. I did leave the wall with the window white (primer white) to brighten the space and it’s perfect. This is a matt colour so if you wipe it with a damp sponge then some colour will get on the sponge, but but the wall itself will be okay. Imo that’s better than getting a plastic paint that peels or traps moisture in. A matt emulsion is my go-to for walls. The paint is quite thick so I did not need two coats, but I did use a primer underneath as I painted over a vibrant blue wall. I also painted over a beige wall with no primer and they look exactly the same. Very good quality paint and the tin is easy to open, too.

Brilliant
I went in to store a few days ago to purchase some paint, the lovely lady helped me pick 2 colours, this paint really is amazing one 5L tin has perfectly covered 5 walls with 2 coats and still some left in the tin too!

Paid for white paint
I ordered this and didn't get around to the paint job until a few months later, opened the tin and it was just white paint, not impressed

Terrible Paint
Have used Velspar Premium a few years ago and it was great. Purchased some more premium recently to paint living room walls and it is terrible quality. Decorator is on coat number 4 and it’s extremely patchy. Just been to Dulux Decorator Centre to have it colour matched in Trade Paint. Far better finish. Don’t buy, you’ll waste a lot of time and effort.

WORST PAINT
This is truly the worst paint I’ve ever bought. NOT durable. NOT scrubbable. NOT high coverage. NOT splatter resistant as marketed. The colour is great but this doesn’t matter if the quality lasts barely a week!

The Marmite of paint brands
Reading the reviews this paint comes across like Marmite, everyone either loves it or hates it….. having worked with a lot of different paint brands over the years I totally recommend this product, people just need to understand how to prep and use the product correctly, like all paint the colour you choose will have a huge impact on the coverage and opacity and the number of coats required, safe colours like greys, neutrals and colours you’ll find on the shelf ready mixed up perform really well 2 coats and the job is done, the bright vibrant colours are a different proposition, and I believe that’s where the bad reviews come from, there are a lot of these colours in the range valspar range that you don’t see on the shelf, my advice is when using these colours is to expect to use 3 coats and don’t paint directly over white, base coat the walls with cheap mid/dark grey, it makes a massive difference

Paint is fine, no issues
Fail to see any problems with the paint. Used it for several rooms over several years and it's fine. I can clean my walls if marked. Painted on new mist coat treated plaster. Looks great.

I wish I had read the
I wish I had read the reviews before I purchased the valspar sandy peppers Matt emulsion paint. . I'm a professional painter/ decorator and have painted 100's of ltrs of emulsion so I do have a good idea how to paint and I can say without a doubt that the valspar emulsion is the worst paint I have had the misfortune to use. It looked ok when painting but has dried blotchy , inconsistent colour. It's a complete mess, I now need to repaint the wall in a neutral colour and start again with a quality paint. I estimate it's going to need 3-4 repaints to get the wall to the stage where I can start again. Its been an expensive experience in my time and money. Valspar used to make good paints but not anymore. Avoid it , if you do purchase some you can't say you haven't been warned.

Avoid like the plague
I've used Valspar paint before and whilst it's never been good, it's always been 'fine', and for a lot of colours seems to be the only way to get them. This time however it's absolutely horrific. It's like painting with liquid plastic. It pulls itself off the wall when painting, it acts almost like it's latex or something. Coverage is really poor and it bubbles and bobbles like it's a witch's cauldron on the wall, the wall after the first coat looks like it's got the pox. There's the option to get a replacement colour (but not a refund), but quite frankly you couldn't pay me to use it again. Really disappointed. Only option now really is to sand it all back down and buy a different brand. Been a complete waste of time and money (and one upset 6 year old to boot!). If it was possible to give 0 stars I would. Do yourself a favour and think really hard before picking Valspar paint, especially if you've never used it before.
