S-trap Wastes & traps

As the name suggests, an S trap is bent into the shape of the letter s to help it stop potentially harmful gasses and bacteria from the sewers coming through an entering your home. It works by holding a small amount of water in the bend which prevents the gases from escaping, while allow wastewater to drain safely away. S traps are considered out of date and not recommended for use in new homes or builds.
