Colleagues

Inclusivity matters to B&Q. Because we know when everyone is represented and lifts their tools as one, we can make an even bigger difference.

We want to amplify the voices of all our colleagues, to make sure they are all heard, and empower them to learn, grow and support one another. So we can help to make a better world, together.

We believe in creating an environment where all our people feel included. That's why we've created five colleague networks, representing Gender Equality, Cultural Diversity, Pride, Ability and the Armed Forces community. Elected reps work together with senior leaders and our Board to share collective feedback and strategic ideas from a community standpoint. So that all our voices are heard.

We hold inclusive leadership workshops for our senior leadership team every year, so we can help equip them with the knowledge and understanding they need to help make B&Q a place where everyone can feel like they belong. We also require mandatory online learning on Diversity and Inclusion for all our colleagues. So that we can all learn how to best serve our colleagues, customers and communities.

We know it can be tough to ask questions about Diversity and Inclusion. So, we want to create a safe space where everyone can be part of the conversation and break down the stigma. By making key issues easy and digestible, we want to encourage all our colleagues to be open to learning and raise awareness. Because by celebrating our differences, we can help to build a better world.

We've set up a reverse mentoring programme so that we can continue to help build strong partnerships between our leaders and our colleagues. We bring together colleagues from all different backgrounds to pair with members of our Board, Regional Managers and Directors so that they can share their lived experiences and for our leaders to learn from a different perspective. Because together, we can do it.
