We're fully committed to reducing the impact that all our operations have on the environment. Which is why, as part of the Build A Life Project, we're improving what we do behind the scenes: from how much packaging we use to how we manage our waste. Helping build a better world. Together, we can do it.

Our goal is to reduce the amount of packaging we place on the UK market by 25% by 2030. We’ll also ensure that the packaging we use is easier to dispose of and responsibly sourced. We will:

  • Switch all our paper and board to responsibly sourced FSC, PEFC or recycled content

  • Remove problematic materials such as PVC and polystyrene

  • Increase the amount of recycled content in our plastic packaging to a minimum of 30%

  • Ensure that all of our packaging is recyclable, reusable or compostable

By striving towards these goals we will ensure that the packaging we place on the market is as low impact as possible in it’s manufacture, as easy as possible to recycle and drastically reduce the amount of single use plastics our customers have to deal with when they’re completing their home improvement projects. We’ll also be offering take-back schemes for packaging waste that our customers  struggle to dispose of responsibly such as paint pots, plant pots and sealant tubes. These will be launched over the coming 1-2 years.

We’ll be working with the Kingfisher Group Sourcing teams to ensure that our own exclusive branded ranges meet these requirements, but we’ll also be engaging with our branded vendors to ensure that they’re meeting our goals as well. We’ll focus our efforts on the largest vendors with the highest volume or weight of packaging first and move through our vendor base to increase our impact over time.
